Adaptive reuse of an old Paper Mill creates contemporary apartment development and new precinct for Liverpool in Sydney’s west.

Woods Bagot has revealed the design for a residential project in Sydney’s Liverpool. Fusing the original 19th-century old paper mill with modern urban sensibility, the design draws on the history of the site and its beautiful location on the Georges River.

Liverpool’s proposed new residential project, The Paper Mill on Georges River has seen strong interest by local buyers attracted to its unique vision to provide premier waterside living, public amenity, world-class design and urban activation not seen in south-west Sydney.

Located on the site of one of the oldest and largest paper mills in Australia, The Paper Mill is a collective vision to combine contemporary living with a deep sense of history. The restoration of the old paper mill will create 245 character-filled apartments, bringing new use to heritage buildings.

“The design vision draws heavily on the story of the old paper mill, with a unique blend of re-purposed 19th century industrial buildings juxtaposed with the highest quality of urban development. In addition to Woods Bagot which completed architecture, interior design and urban design, the highly recognised and celebrated Aspect Studios worked on landscape design, Architectus were planners and Frost completed the branding and identity design.
