Leading planning and design consultancy Barton Willmore has secured a resolution to grant planning permission on behalf of Eden Street (Kingston) Ltd. for a high quality mixed-use scheme in the heart of Kingston-upon-Thames.

The development, made up of 39 homes and 569sqm of flexible commercial floorspace, will positively contribute towards delivering the Council’s vision for the regeneration of the Eden Quarter while providing much needed homes.

Despite benefiting from excellent public transport links and forming part of the lively Eden Quarter of Kingston’s town centre, the site is currently occupied by an unattractive, underutilised and poor quality office building with a small scale retail operation on the ground floor.

Gary Stevens, Associate Planner in Barton Willmore’s London team said: “this site was in desperate need of regeneration, so it’s fantastic that its potential has been recognised. The proposals will deliver 39 high quality apartments, including 8 affordable homes, along with flexible commercial space that is capable of accommodating a new retailer, professional services or restaurant facilities in the town centre. The new high quality commercial floorspace will help create jobs in the local area and compliment the wider regeneration objectives of the area”.

The Royal Borough of Kingston resolved to grant planning permission for the scheme on 29th September and work is set to begin later in 2016.
