Topping out for the Alvik tower
Topping out for the Alvik tower
June 4 saw the topping out ceremony for the 18-storey Alvik Tower in the archipelago of Stockholm.
Alvik tower is a sculptural housing complex in Stockholm's Alvik district. The site lies in a prominent location towards the archipelago, and forms a transition zone between the city and the landscape, which has inspired the architecture. The 33.000 m2 development with ca. 150 apartments - a fractured block of eight storeys and a landmark 18-storey tower divided into two parts - draws its shape and lines from the steepness and structure of the mountains bordering the lake Mälaren.
The project is developed for PEAB who hosted the traditional Swedish "Taklaksfest" (roofing ceremony), which involves the builders and craftsmen and marks the completion of the building envelope. The project is ahead of schedule, and the final completion of the complex will be in October 2014.
