ZEISS PRO advance replaces the ZEISS PRO compact and ZEISS PRO select horizontal-arm measuring machines

With the launch of ZEISS PRO advance, ZEISS is restructuring its PRO series of horizontal-arm measuring machines and paving the way for the future of horizontal-arm measuring technology. ZEISS PRO advance has a modular structure and will replace the ZEISS PRO compact and ZEISS PRO select product lines. ZEISS is presenting the new technology to the public for the first time from 1 - 4 July at an in-house exhibition titled "Experience Car Body Metrology in Close-up" at its Bochingen site in Germany.

Until now, the mid-class versions ZEISS PRO compact and ZEISS PRO select were the preferred systems by many suppliers to the automotive industry. "The new and diverse demands now being made on measuring machines, such as new sensor carriers and optical sensor systems, have prompted us to totally revamp the electronic system of ZEISS PRO," says Rolf Bülow of the ZEISS Industrial Metrology business group. "The product structure has also been adapted and optimized in line with new market requirements”.

With improvements in accuracy and performance as well as the continuous articulating CSC unit, we are now offering real added value to our customers in the automotive and supplier industries through the restructuring of the ZEISS PRO series. The machine design of the PRO series is based on a platform strategy with a modular structure. The most important features: very high speeds without a loss of measuring accuracy and problem-free adaptation to changed production requirements.

ZEISS PRO advance and ZEISS PRO premium

After conducting a large number of measuring trials and gaining considerable practical experience, ZEISS has now given ZEISS PRO a modular structure in which the base machine design can be adapted to customer requirements. "The machine can be configured to meet the customer's requirements and therefore permits cost-effective entry into the PRO class of horizontal measuring machines," Bülow continues. Compared to the ZEISS PRO compact, the new ZEISS PRO advance now achieves an accuracy increase of around ten micrometers for the standard measuring range of 1600 / 2500 mm. ZEISS PRO premium, the high-end flagship of the PRO series will be continued as a product line. To reflect the increased demands on accuracy in car body construction, the accuracy of the ZEISS PRO premium has been further enhanced.

Another new feature is that both machines are available with stepping, articulating and continuous articulating units. The stepping, articulating RDS-C CAA unit can be quickly calibrated for all angular settings in just six minutes. The continuous articulating CSC unit, on the other hand, offers optimal conditions for ideal sensor positioning and for accessing difficult measuring points such as those often experienced in car body construction. This is attributable to substantial torque reserves, combined with maximum resolution and precision. Very high angular velocities and accelerations enable short measuring times and therefore save valuable time for the user.
