Today at the National Work Truck Show (NTEA) in Indianapolis, IN, VIA Motors unveiled the world’s first extended range electric work van with remote control access to side doors.

VIA’s electrified version of a Chevy Express Van can now be ordered with the “Express Access” side door panel option that allows easy access to tools and cargo from both sides of the van. Several special cargo and tool rack steel shelves from Adrian Steel designed specifically for the “Express Access” van can also be ordered on VIA’s website along with the VIA electric van for a variety of applications including, telecom, construction, electrical, plumbing, delivery and more.

“This versatile option provides easy stand up access to cargo from the outside. It’s like getting the convenience of a full size walk-in van, in a more economical low profile van, with incredible fuel economy,” said Mark Burdge, V.P. Sales for VIA Motors. “Our fleet customers love the flexibility this configuration offers. In addition, specialty tool and cargo racks designed for many applications from Adrian Steel provide easy access,” Burdge concluded.

“VIA’s extended range electric van with the professional ‘Express Access’ side door option can be a perfect fit for many applications within the utility and telecom industry,” said Scott Weber, Director of Alternative Energy Solutions for Consumers Energy Co. an electric utility in Michigan. Minimizing obstructions and improving accessibility and security are significant areas of focus that will support operator safety, Weber concluded.

Each of the three side doors can be opened easily from a distance using the key remote. A bench seat can be added to accommodate a crew of five and cargo. LED lights under each door panel provide light for cargo and tools at night. The “Express Access” option has an MSRP of only $1,500 and can be ordered with the vehicle along with the Adrian Steel cargo shelves.
